Midweek

Church isn’t just for Sundays! Another part of our church family life are our mid-week small groups. Take a look below - there’s something for everyone.

We regularly run courses of 3 to 8 weekly sessions for anyone wanting to investigate Jesus and what it means to follow him, such as Christianity Explored, Discipleship Explored or Hope Explored. These are usually in small groups in a church partner’s home, with video talks and discussion of Bible passages. You don’t need to have any prior knowledge or belief and any questions are welcome!

Newcomers to the church are encouraged to join this weekly group meeting with the Pastor and some other church partners for prayer and Bible study. This is an opportunity for you to get to know us, and us to get to know you, whilst studying the Bible. If you'd like to join please register interest below or speak to an Elder on a Sunday.

Newcomers’ Bible Study

We believe joining a church means Christians being committed to one another and the vision for the church in that place. Once you have been attending Sunday meetings and the newcomers Bible Study for a while we will encourage you to consider becoming a Partner of the church (in some churches called membership). Partnership courses run periodically and happen over three evenings across three weeks. They set out the history, convictions, and governance of the church as well as what it means to become a partner.

Three colorful books titled 'Week 1 : Our Beliefs,' 'Week 2 : Governance,' and 'Week 3 : Partners,' each with a paperclip attached at the top and the Christ Church Saffron Walden logo at the bottom.

Home Groups usually meet once a week during school term times, to study the Bible, pray and share life together. These smaller gatherings of up to 10, help us grow as disciples, build friendships and support one another in following Jesus.

Home Groups

The first week of the month, instead of home groups, we join together for a prayer meeting for the whole church family. Regular prayer together is how we depend on our Heavenly Father and ask him to carry out his good plans for us and our town.

We are looking forward to more families joining us, and we are keen to set up a children’s group during the Sunday service, and a youth group midweek.

Upcoming Events

From time to time we run special events, like a church weekend away, guest services, or social gatherings. These give us space to deepen friendships, welcome newcomers, and grow together in our faith. Partners can view upcoming events through the MyChurchSuite app. Newcomers will hear about these events through our Sunday meetings.
